What does Life time cover actually mean?

It doesn’t mean that once you have pet insurance your pet will be covered for life. But do ask your insurer if cover will end once your pet reached a certain age.

No, "lifetime insurance" means that where your pet gets a condition that may take some years to treat - such as diabetes or arthritis - a "lifetime" policy will cover that condition for more than the first 12 months. Non-lifetime policies will cover a condition for only up to 12 months; after that you have to pay. Other insurers will give you a financial limit to cover all conditions occurring in a year, that's why some policies appear so cheap.

But it's not as simple as that! There are different types of lifetime policy. Some will give a certain amount of cover per condition but there is no time limit on when that cover may be used. Once the financial limit is reached then cover for that condition will end

Full lifetime cover - such as Animal Friends Gold and Platinum policies - will give you a certain amount per condition per year; that means you would be able to claim up to the financial limit (e.g. £4000) each and every year for each condition.

So its worth reading the small print to see exactly what you are getting rather than just looking at the bottom line monthly premium!
